Frequently asked questions

When should I book my session?

As soon as possible, as I try to schedule at least a month in advance for sessions, longer for newborns.  For newborns, I recommend booking during the second or third trimester.  I will pencil in your due date and you can keep me aware of any scheduling changes.  When baby arrives I just ask that you touch base right away so we can get you scheduled within 7-10 days after arrival.

Where do my sessions take place?

My studio space is dedicated to newborns and children.  I am able to get in a few family photos during those sessions usually, but full family sessions are held outdoors, usually at one of our many parks in Springfield.  My studio does not have an outdoor setup.

Do you provide the props and accessories?

Yes!  I have a bit of a prop addiction, I think most of us photographers do.  That being said, if you have something important you’d like to bring from home to incorporate I am open to that as well.  Some things that parents have brought in the past are items from a nursery, musical instruments, sports /team gear and even pets!

How long do sessions last?

Newborn sessions can last usually 2+ hours.  Regular milestone sessions are around 45 min, with mini sessions being 20 minutes.

What should I wear for my session?

I am always happy to help you go over outfit choices for your family sessions.  I like colors that go with the seasons: bright cheerful colors for Spring and Summer, neutrals and jewel tones for Fall or Winter.  Mixing patterns and prints can add a fun element to your portraits as well.

For newborn sessions if you are having family photos done I recommend white, cream or black tops, try to stay away from anything with logos.  As for baby, 90% of the session is shot nude, as newborn outfits tend to be too big and baggy and can take the focus away from baby.

How do I see my images? Do you include the printing rights?

Approximately 48 hours after your session you will be sent a proof gallery to choose your favorite images from. Once that choice has been made, I will begin editing and you will receive your final edited images within 2 weeks. Print releases are available upon request.
